Four Hundred indigenes of Anambra Central Senatorial District had on Friday benefited from Senator Uche Ekwunife 11th Empowerment Programme.
The items distributed in Igbo – Ukwu in Anambra State at a very colorful ceremony which attracted thousands of her supporters were Gas Cookers, Cash , Sewing machines and other domestic appliances.
Senator Ekwunife who is the Chairman , Senate Committee on Science and Technology noted that representation is about impacting positivity on the lives of the people .
She reiterated that the need to address the yearnings of the people should be of paramount concern and the major reason of seeking for public offices.
The Governorship Hopeful who lamented the unemployment rate among the youths said it is the reason she has been facilitating acquisition training for Women and Youth in the Senatorial zone of the state.
“ I have assisted my several numbers of my constituents to access the federal government to benefit from the Social Intervention Fund .
Some of the funds received by beneficiaries ranged from N700,000 to N5million . I equally encouraged those who have applied but yet to be credited to be patient . My liaison office is open on daily basis to assist interested constituents to obtain the fund”.She stated.
She further disclosed that the bill seeking to amend the Nigerian Investment Promotion Act to make provision for adequate protection for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Is receiving serious attention at the Senate .
The Senator explained that the bill which she is sponsoring when eventually passed into law will shield the Small and medium enterprises from unhealthy competition as the legislative frame work will improve the growth of Small and Medium Scale industries in the country.
She also disclosed that she has given a facelift through the Projects she attracted to many primary and post primary schools in her senatorial district in a bid encourage learning among the pupils and students in the area that the Empowerment Programme will be a continuous exercise .
